The Adolescent Center and Mental Health Services specializes in conducting pre-operative bariatric psychological evaluations for those individuals who have made the decision to pursue weight loss surgery. Anyone who is considering weight loss surgery should be aware that bariatric surgery is a serious medical procedure. Successful weight loss requires time, effort, and motivation as well as lifestyle adjustments. Our evaluation process was developed to identify each individual’s weaknesses and strengths to determine the likelihood of successfully meeting weight loss goals or potential barriers to achieving weight loss/management after surgery. Our assessment process is not meant to prevent anyone from having surgery but prepare candidates to incorporate new lifestyle changes and develop habits leading to lasting weight-loss success.
